Your denture journey, from start to finish

Getting dentures can feel like a big step. With over 25 years of experience in denture care, we’re ready to be your guide through the denture process, so you can feel comfortable getting back to a more confident you.

If you’re asking yourself, “Should I get dentures?”, you’re in the right place. The decision to get dentures isn’t one-size-fits-all—it depends on your oral health, lifestyle and personal goals. The best way to know if dentures are right for you is to talk with your dentist, who can evaluate your situation and walk you through your options.

When should I get dentures?

Dentures may be recommended when missing or severely damaged teeth begin to affect your comfort, confidence, or ability to eat and speak normally. A comprehensive dental exam and X-rays allow your dentist to evaluate your oral health, review tooth replacement options, and determine whether dentures fit your needs, goals and lifestyle.

You may want to consider dentures if you’re experiencing:

  • Missing teeth: Gaps in your smile can affect how you eat, speak, and feel about your appearance.

  • Loose or shifting teeth: Teeth that move or feel unstable may be signs of advanced gum disease or bone loss.

  • Difficulty eating comfortably: Pain, pressure, or limited chewing ability can make everyday meals frustrating.

  • Trouble speaking clearly: Missing or unstable teeth may affect pronunciation and clarity.

  • Teeth that are too damaged to restore: Severe decay, gum disease, or injury may mean other treatments are no longer viable options.

Dentures are designed to restore comfort, function and confidence. If any of these experiences sound familiar, scheduling a dental consultation can help you understand whether dentures may be right for you.

How long does it take to make dentures?

The process of getting dentures depends on the type of dentures you need and your specific health situation, such as whether extractions are required and if you need any other pre-work like periodontal treatment. In many cases, immediate (healing) dentures are placed at the time of extractions so you’ll never be without your smile. While final dentures are typically made after your gums heal and your dentist can finalize the fit based on your healed gums. The process involves multiple steps—impressions, fittings and adjustments—to ensure you get the most comfortable and functional dentures for you. Your Aspen Dental care team can discuss the expected timeline after your exam and once you review treatment options.

What should I expect after getting dentures?

Once you get your dentures, it can take time to get used to how they look and feel. During this transition, a denture adhesive may be used in some cases to help improve stability and confidence while your mouth adapts, and your dental team can guide you on proper use. At Aspen Dental, we’ll provide you with the right guidance and can help make the transition easier.
