The single tooth implant process

Your care team will review your smile goals, oral health and treatment options, then create a personalized implant crown plan designed around your needs and timeline.

We’ll take digital scans and impressions to capture precise details of your smile.

We start by preparing your smile with professional hygiene care and any necessary extractions. Then, your implant is carefully placed into the jawbone, creating a strong, secure foundation for your new smile.

Your custom crown is attached to complete your single tooth implant.

You’ll check to make sure the crown fits and feels right for you, and walk out with your new smile.

Single tooth implant FAQs

A single tooth implant has two main parts: the implant post and the crown. With proper care, the implant post is designed to last a lifetime by integrating with your jawbone like a natural tooth root, while the custom crown may need replacement over time due to normal wear.

You can help support the longevity of your implant with daily care, including:

  • Brushing and flossing every day

  • Visiting your care team every six months

  • Avoiding tobacco

  • Wearing a night guard if you grind your teeth

Coverage depends on your insurance plan. Some plans contribute to part of the implant treatment, while others may cover the crown more often than the implant post. Your Aspen Dental care team will review your benefits, verify your coverage and explain how it may apply to your treatment. If you do not have insurance, 3rd-party financing and the Aspen Dental Savings Plan³ can help make single tooth implants more affordable.

³The Aspen Dental Savings Plan is NOT insurance. Please see plan terms and conditions for details.

Most patients are surprised by how easy the process feels. Local anesthesia helps keep you comfortable during the procedure. You may notice some pressure or movement as your care team works. Afterward, mild swelling or tenderness is common for a short time and can typically be managed with ice packs or over-the-counter options. Many people return to normal routines within a few days.

Your care team will share clear aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to expect during healing.

With more than 1,100 Aspen Dental locations nationwide, care is often closer than you think.
 Your local office offers:

  • Same-day appointments with flexible hours

  • Coordinated care from your first visit through your final restoration

  • Supported with insurance and 3rd-party financing

A single dental implant includes three parts: the implant post, the abutment and the custom crown. Your total cost will depend on whether pre-treatment like bone support are needed and how your insurance benefits apply. Your Aspen Dental team can provide a personalized cost estimate and review payment options during your visit.
