I recently visited their office & I must say that I have never had a dental visit that pleasant. Everyone was so nice, they made me feel very comfortable. They answered every question that I asked, they were very attentive to my needs. I highly recommend them.
I went to Aspen Dental my mom during a recent visit home. My Mom was having so many problems with her teeth. She was at her wits end with no hope left of ever being able to chew food again. Her dentist had told her there was nothing left to do. My mom was so depressed. We called Aspen Dental as a last resort, never expecting anything from them except more bad news. We spoke with Tony at the answering service, he was such a pleasure to work with. He got us in the very next day! From the minute we entered the office we knew this place was special. The front office staff was so courteous and professional. We thought we would have a long wait, but we're called back promptly after filling out the paperwork. The x-ray tech was also professional and meticulous to detail. Then the dental hygienist, Jodie, came in and we were pleasantly surprised at her knowledge of my moms dental problems. She was so kind and loving to my mom, it was like a dream. Dr. Clay came in and immediately honed in on the problem and began to come up with solutions. We were then take to the financial specialist. She was incredible. She explained all the option my mom had and gave us a quote. We were over the moon thrilled with the quote as it was so much lower than what we would have expected. She then went to confirm again with the lab technician about the specifics of the plan and then shared the details with us. We were so impressed with her knowledge and understanding of what my mom would need to ha e done in order to eat again. We were also impressed that she took the time and effort to double check with the technician about the upcoming plan for my moms dental work and then explaining it in a way that we could all understand. We, (my mom,dad and myself), were all so happy with the good news we received and the care and compassion we were shown that we all started crying. I can't say enough good things about the Aspen Dental office in Pikeville Kentucky. I'm used to this kind of care where I live in California, but I now know this kind of service is alive and well at Aspen Dental. What an amazing team!!! Thank you!!!
Friendly staff and they do a great job on all my dental work.

What are dental fillings?

A tooth filling is a restorative treatment that repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay or minor fractures. When getting a filling, your dentist will remove any decay in your tooth and then fill the leftover space with either composite resin, glass ionomer or amalgam. This restores the shape, function and strength of your tooth while helping to minimize any discomfort or sensitivity.

Types of dental fillings

Composite fillings

The top choice for tooth restoration—a resin composite filling is made to match your tooth’s shade for a natural appearance.

Glass ionomer fillings

Commonly used for small cavities, these fillings release fluoride, which can help prevent further tooth decay.

Amalgam fillings

Silver tooth fillings (amalgam fillings) are durable, cost-effective and can contain metals such as silver, tin and copper.

Yes. Modern tooth-colored fillings are strong and resist normal wear. While they may not last as long as metal fillings in areas of your mouth you frequently chew in, with proper care, they can last many years.

Wondering, “do cavity fillings hurt?” No, they don’t. During your treatment, we keep you comfortable with a local anesthetic. You may feel pressure, but should not feel pain. Any mild sensitivity afterward usually goes away within a few days.

Avoid chewing with the tooth that was filled until the numbness wears off. Brush and floss gently around the area as normal, and avoid sticky or hard foods for the first day. Maintain regular oral hygiene and schedule routine dental checkups to keep the filling in good condition.
