My first visit at ASPEN was excellent. The receptionist was very pleaant and knew her job description. The dental technician explained to me the procedure she will performed for my dental XRAY. The DENTAL HYGIENIST was professional, knowledgeable, communicated with me before performing her procedures. The Dentist greeted me with warmth, professionalism and assurance that he and his staff will take care of all my dental needs. I fell that my new dentist will cater to my dental needs. Oh! BILLING CLERK DANA worked diligently for me to know first hand the total cost for my dental fees. I AM SMILING....

This has got to be one of the best experiences I've ever had at a dentist office. All of the staff was very nice and polite. All were very helpful. I was absolutely scared to death to have not one but three teeth pulled and also a deep cleaning. My whole body was literally shaking at points. The doctor that pulled out my teeth was absolutely fantastic. His bedside manner so to speak was just great he was very positive, he liked to joke around a little, he made me at ease and that helped me a lot. I'm scared enough to go to the dentist. But I will not be scared to come back here because everybody just made me feel so at ease. So thank everybody so very much. Best experience ever!

What are dental fillings?

A tooth filling is a restorative treatment that repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay or minor fractures. When getting a filling, your dentist will remove any decay in your tooth and then fill the leftover space with either composite resin, glass ionomer or amalgam. This restores the shape, function and strength of your tooth while helping to minimize any discomfort or sensitivity.

Types of dental fillings

Composite fillings

The top choice for tooth restoration—a resin composite filling is made to match your tooth’s shade for a natural appearance.

Glass ionomer fillings

Commonly used for small cavities, these fillings release fluoride, which can help prevent further tooth decay.

Amalgam fillings

Silver tooth fillings (amalgam fillings) are durable, cost-effective and can contain metals such as silver, tin and copper.

You may need a dental filling if you have tooth pain, visible holes, dark spots, or sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet foods. Getting treatment early can prevent more serious dental problems.

Tooth-colored composite fillings are often best for front teeth. They blend in naturally, bond securely to your tooth and provide strong support in visible areas.

Yes. Modern tooth-colored fillings are strong and resist normal wear. While they may not last as long as metal fillings in areas of your mouth you frequently chew in, with proper care, they can last many years.

Wondering, “do cavity fillings hurt?” No, they don’t. During your treatment, we keep you comfortable with a local anesthetic. You may feel pressure, but should not feel pain. Any mild sensitivity afterward usually goes away within a few days.

Avoid chewing with the tooth that was filled until the numbness wears off. Brush and floss gently around the area as normal, and avoid sticky or hard foods for the first day. Maintain regular oral hygiene and schedule routine dental checkups to keep the filling in good condition.
