About Dr. Nelson Nunez

Dr. Nelson Nunez is a highly accomplished General Dentist at Aspen Dental whose career is distinguished by a deep commitment to service, continual learning, and clinical excellence. His path into dentistry is rooted in a lifelong dedication to caring for others, forged through more than a decade of service in the United States Army and reinforced by exceptional academic achievements. Dr. Nunez earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, where he was honored with the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Student Award for his clinical aptitude and commitment to surgical excellence. Prior to dental school, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. His diverse clinical and scientific training enables him to deliver patient-centered, comprehensive care built on a solid foundation of medical knowledge and technical skill. Before entering dentistry, Dr. Nunez proudly served 11 years on active duty in the United States Army, beginning his career as a Combat Medic and later practicing as a Registered Nurse as he progressed through both Noncommissioned Officer and Commissioned Officer ranks. His military service included assignments at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas; Camp Garry Owen in South Korea; and Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, as well as combat deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2004). Throughout his service, he earned numerous commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Korean Defense Medal. These experiences helped shape his professional philosophy, emphasizing precision, integrity, leadership, and compassionate care. In his dental practice, Dr. Nunez is known for his calm, patient-first approach and his commitment to empowering individuals through education, preventive care, and thoughtful treatment planning. He places significant value on helping patients feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their experience. As part of his dedication to continuing education and professional growth, Dr. Nunez is an active member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Nunez remains deeply connected to the military and veteran community. He is an avid motorcycle rider and proudly serves as the President of the Souls of Freedom Military Motorcycle Association, an organization dedicated to supporting service members, veterans, their families, and the broader community. His leadership reflects his ongoing passion for mentorship, camaraderie, and serving with purpose beyond the dental office.
