I’m so happy that I took time to switch to a new Dentist! Aspen Dental was an amazing experience. Getting dental work done and appointments in general has always been daunting for me as a military Veteran struggling with depression and PTSD. Sometimes just making appointments and overcoming hurdles for personal care gets hard when I’m in a mental health funk. The Aspen Dental team did an amazing job with communication, holding space for me, listening to my concerns, and having actual down-to-earth employees who truly expressed genuine connectivity with me as a patient. Now, normally I’m super defensive and closed-off with nurses/doctors/students/interns/etc in any medical environment when they’re inexperienced/learning/or newly hired. I want to emphasize that I felt SO comfortable here at Aspen Dental, that I didn’t mind at all being patient and cared for by some of their new employees. For me that’s a huge deal. For those that have seniority at Aspen Dental, they were so kind to their newer colleagues and took time to show them how to do certain things the right way. I had to bite down on some plastic squares to get x-rays/pictures done. It was a little uncomfortable at first , but they were learning how to do it right, and I felt just fine under their care. They balanced acknowledging me AND their teammates, creating an overall climate that is inviting for anyone to feel at ease at the Aspen Dental home. I really admire it when I get service at a place where I can see that they treat their co-workers with respect and an eagerness to work as a team. Too many times I’ve seen behind-the-scenes issues that bleeds into how they care for their patients. Kindness truly was an overall theme at Aspen Dental. I loved how informed I was in different ways by everyone who interacted with me on how dental heath and goals would look and feel for me moving forward. Everyone had a different teaching style and was free to express that in their own way to me! Aspen Dental has a very positive personal touch in how they care for their patients and I would highly recommend going here. I never thought I’d be so articulate about getting a new dentist but I can’t just keep this gem to myself! I look forward to getting my retainers there soon and knowing that I can go to them for anything- from routine care to specialized visits geared to my needs . If I could give them all the stars in the sky, I would! Please, if you’re reading this and you’re searching for dental care: choose Aspen Dental! 💯✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨😄🪥🦷

What are wisdom tooth extractions?

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually in the late teens or early twenties. Not all wisdom teeth require removal—but when they cause pain, crowding or infection, tooth extraction is often the most effective solution. If the tooth is fully visible, it can usually be removed with forceps under local anesthesia. For teeth that are impacted or partially emerged, a minor surgical procedure may be needed. Your Aspen Dental care team will walk you through which option is best for you and explain how we minimize discomfort.

Reasons to get a wisdom tooth extraction

You may need removal if you experience:
1
Pain or swelling
Discomfort at the back of your mouth can be a sign of trouble.
2
Infections or gum irritation
Inflamed or infected gums around wisdom teeth can worsen if untreated.
3
Pressure or crowding
Wisdom teeth can shift other teeth, causing bite issues.
4
Cysts, decay, or damage
In some cases, wisdom teeth can cause cysts or damage surrounding teeth.

Types of wisdom tooth extractions

Non surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth has fully erupted, removal is straightforward. Under local anesthesia, your Aspen Dental dentist gently loosens and extracts the tooth with forceps.

Surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth is impacted or angled incorrectly, a surgical approach may be needed. Your Aspen Dental dentist makes a small opening in the gum to remove the tooth, sometimes placing sutures to aid healing.
