Dr. Choi was Amazing with my Daughter. Great Staff as well!! Brittney and a Couple others were so Kind and Comforting! Dr Choi did a couple tooth extractions and a week later fixed some dry socket. He was Patient and Effective. Very Pleased and will continue to only go to Thomaston for the future!
Terrific! Everyone was kind, patient and very helpful.
My dentist before moving to Maine was amazing, but I can hardly make the six hour drive back for a cleaning at a practice my insurance doesn't cover, so I knew I had to switch. I've had some pretty significant oral surgery in the past, and compounded with a bunch of other medical issues and medication dry mouth, going to the dentist has often been a trial. Not only was I booked same day (unlike weeks, at best, with other dentists in the area), they made sure I had plenty of time to answer the new patient questionnaire before I was brought back. Once back, I had xrays done on one of the scanners that spins around you, which was very neat, followed by normal bitewings. The whole time, I was chatted with so I couldn't get caught up in my head about being at *the dentist*. Everything they did was explained to me and was shown on their monitor or on the monitor set up beside the exam chair. Dr. Choi was quick but very thorough. He went through my medical records before we got started to make sure everything was in order, and he explained as he was doing the exam how different conditions or medications I'm on might impact my oral health. The check-out process was not only smooth, but all my questions and concerns about if everything would actually be covered were answered with detailed knowledge about my dental insurance. I was a little wary given the mixed reviews about Aspen Dental, but I have no regrets about my choice!

Wisdom teeth removal treatment in Thomaston, ME

When wisdom teeth cause pain, swelling or infection, it can throw off your whole routine. These teeth often come in at odd angles or don’t fully emerge, which can lead to ongoing discomfort and oral health problems. At Aspen Dental in Thomaston, our care team makes wisdom tooth removal as smooth as possible. With modern tools, anesthesia and a focus on your comfort, we’re here to help you feel at ease. You’ll always get a clear estimate up front, simple treatment options to choose from and—when available—the chance for same-day or next-day care.

What are wisdom tooth extractions?

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually in the late teens or early twenties. Not all wisdom teeth require removal—but when they cause pain, crowding or infection, tooth extraction is often the most effective solution. If the tooth is fully visible, it can usually be removed with forceps under local anesthesia. For teeth that are impacted or partially emerged, a minor surgical procedure may be needed. Your Aspen Dental care team will walk you through which option is best for you and explain how we minimize discomfort.

Reasons to get a wisdom tooth extraction

You may need removal if you experience:
1
Pain or swelling
Discomfort at the back of your mouth can be a sign of trouble.
2
Infections or gum irritation
Inflamed or infected gums around wisdom teeth can worsen if untreated.
3
Pressure or crowding
Wisdom teeth can shift other teeth, causing bite issues.
4
Cysts, decay, or damage
In some cases, wisdom teeth can cause cysts or damage surrounding teeth.

Types of wisdom tooth extractions

Non surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth has fully erupted, removal is straightforward. Under local anesthesia, your Aspen Dental dentist gently loosens and extracts the tooth with forceps.

Surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth is impacted or angled incorrectly, a surgical approach may be needed. Your Aspen Dental dentist makes a small opening in the gum to remove the tooth, sometimes placing sutures to aid healing.
