The people here are amazing I love coming to the dentist and I've never like coming to the dentist. Everyone is so nice are professional

I knew from the 3D xray and previous root problems, that it would be a really tough extraction. In fact, three other dentists including an oral surgeon had turned it down! Indeed, it was super, super tough. He took out a back molar with long roots that were knotted together AND had extra roots growing out of the bottom of them. It took over an hour and a half and I have to admit, it was awful! I have a gene which makes me more susceptible to pain. BUT he gave me extra painkiller as I needed it, so as miserable as it was, I was not in pain. Just miserable. I felt super confident the doctor was working as hard and fast and as carefully as he could. That was two days ago. I am bruised but confident he did a remarkable job under the worst of circumstances. Patient, competent, and kind. I am so thankful to have that tooth (which had had infections going on for nearly a year I was controlling with clove oil) OUT of my mouth for good! Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Cena and staff. UPDATE: The crown is now placed and it is wonderful. Some crowns are too close to get floss around, and some are too far from neighboring teeth and all food gets stuck there. This is perfect and felt "normal" within 24 hours of placement. All is well.

I now have a lower full arch permanently installed— It’s is life changing. The journey was rough getting here though. The office where I began was going through a series of temporary doctors and communication was awful. The temporary denture was ill fitting, looked ridiculous being bright white, and was so painful I could not wear it. I spent two extra months in that state because of the disconnect between the changing doctors. But then I switched over to the Waynesboro office and my experience with them has been extraordinary. The staff is professional and pleasant, I can always reach the office, and the communication has been excellent. The doctor really listened to what I was hoping for, changed the plan from snap on and off to permanent, and designed the denture with the tech to look completely natural, and the staff lightened my upper teeth to match. He was clearly an expert in this area and handled everything beautifully. I am so grateful!

What are wisdom tooth extractions?

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually in the late teens or early twenties. Not all wisdom teeth require removal—but when they cause pain, crowding or infection, tooth extraction is often the most effective solution. If the tooth is fully visible, it can usually be removed with forceps under local anesthesia. For teeth that are impacted or partially emerged, a minor surgical procedure may be needed. Your Aspen Dental care team will walk you through which option is best for you and explain how we minimize discomfort.

Reasons to get a wisdom tooth extraction

You may need removal if you experience:

Types of wisdom tooth extractions

Non surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth has fully erupted, removal is straightforward. Under local anesthesia, your Aspen Dental dentist gently loosens and extracts the tooth with forceps.

Surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth is impacted or angled incorrectly, a surgical approach may be needed. Your Aspen Dental dentist makes a small opening in the gum to remove the tooth, sometimes placing sutures to aid healing.
