Positive visit, everyone exceptional care. Love intense care from Jessica and Christina.

Dr. Fatah literally pulled my tooth in 45 seconds, where as a different location failed to do so after an hour. Can't recommend enough. Also the staff including dental assistant Jessica were very polite and got me in and out of there no problem. Thank you both very much, seriously.

My experience at Ankeny Aspen Dental has been amazing. Mindy and Ryan are a friendly, helpful front receptionists. Mindy was exceptionally helpful as I had accidentally forgotten appointment times so she was courteous enough to write them down for me. Because I was late they still allow me to come in. They didn't hold it against me either. They graciously accepted and got me right in. Christina remembered me from my last appointment and was concerned with how I was doing. My dental hygienist Dedeepya was patient, kind and genuinely concerned about my anxiety. She didn't leave my side the entire time while I was being numbed. She kept asking about my numbing and anxiety. She used strategies to help with pain during the injections. I had more than 5 but who was counting. I had to have impressions made, Mabel was professional, nice and gentle. For the first time in 30 years I feel I'm in good hands. I will be following all the instructions given to me and will be returning for further maintenance and upkeep. Thank you all for showing me you don't have to fear going to the dentist. This is truly life changing. 5 stars for all I mentioned.

What are wisdom tooth extractions?

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually in the late teens or early twenties. Not all wisdom teeth require removal—but when they cause pain, crowding or infection, tooth extraction is often the most effective solution. If the tooth is fully visible, it can usually be removed with forceps under local anesthesia. For teeth that are impacted or partially emerged, a minor surgical procedure may be needed. Your Aspen Dental care team will walk you through which option is best for you and explain how we minimize discomfort.

Reasons to get a wisdom tooth extraction

You may need removal if you experience:

Types of wisdom tooth extractions

Non surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth has fully erupted, removal is straightforward. Under local anesthesia, your Aspen Dental dentist gently loosens and extracts the tooth with forceps.

Surgical wisdom tooth extractions

When a wisdom tooth is impacted or angled incorrectly, a surgical approach may be needed. Your Aspen Dental dentist makes a small opening in the gum to remove the tooth, sometimes placing sutures to aid healing.
