Generally, no. For most patients, dental cleaning is simple and comfortable. If it’s been a while, you may feel a little sensitivity, but your hygienist can offer numbing options if needed. Regular cleanings every 6 months keep your visits easy and your smile healthy.
A dental emergency includes severe tooth pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, an infection with swelling or uncontrolled bleeding. Issues like minor chips or mild sensitivity usually aren’t emergencies, but if you’re unsure, schedule an appointment with Aspen Dental. We offer same-day emergency care when you need it most.
See a dentist first for most urgent dental issues—like toothaches, infections or broken teeth. However, the ER is best option for serious trauma, uncontrolled bleeding or airway problems. Aspen Dental offices are equipped to handle most emergencies quickly and at a lower cost than an ER visit.
A tooth extraction may be recommended if a tooth is too damaged, decayed or infected to save. It may also be needed if a tooth is fractured, impacted or causing crowding. Your Aspen Dental dentist will explain your options and talk with you about tooth replacements like implants, bridges or dentures.
A root canal sounds intimidating, but it shouldn’t be painful. With local anesthesia, the procedure feels like getting a filling. Afterward, you may notice mild soreness for a few days, which can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Periodontal disease treatment depends on the stage of the disease. Early gum disease can often be managed with hygiene services (dental cleaning) and improved home care. More advanced cases may need scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), antibiotics or gum surgery. At Aspen Dental, we’ll create a treatment plan that helps restore your gum health and protects your smile.
